
Lance Willie Edward Bogan, 46, was called Home by his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 15, 2009. He was born in Racine on September 16, 1962 the son of James and Annie Earl (nee: Bradford) Bogan Sr. On July 8, 2000, in Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, he was united in to the former Barbara Williams Claxton. Lance worked at S. C. Johnson for the Millard Group for over 11 years. He was a member of Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church. Lance, along with his wife Barbara, was active in the We Do Care Group. He was an accomplished musician, playing the guitar and singing. Lance sang with the Gospel Chorus and the Male Chorus of Greater St. Luke’s as well as the Wings of Joy of Racine, Wisconsin. Surviving are his devoted wife Barbara; his father James Bogan Sr.; stepchildren, Shanial Handy of Milwaukee, Michael Handy of Brooklyn, NY, and T-Neathia Handy of Racine; 4 brothers, Willie Hughes, James Bogan, Johnnie Bogan all of Racine, and Walter Tallie of Coppertown, TX; 5 sisters, Annie Frances Isom, Patricia (Lillard) Darby, Mary Bogan, Jeffery Bogan, Therita Harris, and Delorise Bogan all of Racine, and Samantha Bogan of Oklahoma City, OK, his mother-in-law, Mildred McIntosh of Merryville, IN, and his best friend, Anthony First of Racine. His nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends further survive him. He was preceded in death by his mother Annie Earl Bogan on July 17, 2002, his stepson Daryl V. Handy Jr., and his maternal and paternal grandparents. His Homegoing Service will be held in Greater St. Luke’s Baptist Church, 1326 State St., on Friday August 21st, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jesse Sumerall officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
