Leo Joseph Welter

vet
Dec 25, 1929 – May 15, 2012

Racine – Leo Joseph Welter, 82, entered into eternal life on May 15, 2012.  He was born in Milwaukee on December 25, 1929, son of the late Joseph and Katherine Welter.

Leo faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army from July 16, 1951 until August 31, 1975.  He fought in both the Korea and Vietnam Wars where he received several medals.  He was united in marriage to Veronica Welter in Wichita Falls, TX.  Leo was a genuine Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan.  He enjoyed playing Pinochle, Poker, and doing crossword puzzles.  Above all, Leo loved Sunday dinners with his family and enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Leo leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Regina (Charles) Houser, Eric Alford, both of Lawton, OK, Serena (James) Sosa of Racine; grandchildren, Randy, Quintin (Anna), Tommy, Billy, Adrianya, Eric, Jr., Joshua, Nelson, Veronica, Nicholas; 21 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Zorina (Mike) Testerman of Broken Arrow, OK; brother-in-law, Cameron Steward of Oklahoma City, OK; and other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  In addition to his parents and his wife, Veronica, Leo is preceded in death by his son, Aarron Alford, granddaughters, Angel and Julia; 14 siblings; sister-in-law, Krista Honeycutt.

Funeral services are private.  The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or St. Joseph School.

The family would like to thank the Wheaton Franciscan ER and ICU staff for their compassion and care of our beloved Leo.

Testimonials

May 22, 2019

We recently used Draeger-Langendorf’s services for my grandmothers funeral and we are so thankful for Mike and the rest of the staffs help. They made the whole process easy and never urged us to make a certain choice. They were very informative of how the service was going to go and always made sure we knew what was going on. To our surprise Mike Langendorf was there singing in the choir during the funeral and it really made us feel like he truly cared about us. Such a fantastic singing voice! Amazing people to have helping plan during a hard time, would highly recommend.
