Leona M. Hermann

Oct 24, 1919 – Dec 18, 2011

     Leona M. Hermann, 92, passed away in Oak Ridge Care Center, in Union Grove, on Sunday, December 18, 2011. She was born in Sheboygan, WI on October 24, 1919, the daughter of the late Christian and Louisa (nee: Kleinschmidt) Schardt.

     On December 25, 1941, in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, she was united in marriage to Frederick Hermann, who preceded her in death in 1973. In 1946 the Hermanns moved to Racine. Mrs. Hermann was a longtime member of Epiphany Lutheran Church, where she served as Treasurer of the Ladies Guild for over 20 years. She was a great organizer and super homemaker and enjoyed cooking and gardening. Mrs. Hermann was generous, hardworking, always busy, and a great neighbor. She was devoted to her family, especially the grandchildren.

     Surviving are her son, Jim (Jamie) Hermann, of Racine; grandsons, Jeff (Michelle) Hermann, of West Allis, and Joel (Sarah) Hermann, of De Pere, WI;

great grandchildren, Liam, Isabelle, Elijah, Cecilia, and Levi; sister, Sylvia Kachelmeier; nephew, Tim Kachelmeier, both of Sheboygan; great niece and goddaughter, Melissa Peyton; great nephews, Alex and Jonathan Kachelmeier.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Eleanor Johne; brother, Melvin Schardt; brother-in-law, Ted Kachelmeier, and niece, Pamela Kachelmeier.

      A private funeral service was held in the chapel of Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan, with Rev. Michael Zarling officiating. Memorials have been suggested to the Epiphany Lutheran Church Mural Fund.  The family would like to thank the entire staff of Oak Ridge Care Center for the compassionate care given to Leona during her stay with them.

Testimonials

Last warm-hearted care of our mother

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didnt know what to expect. We didnt have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didnt stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
