Leslie James Brown

Apr 23, 1957 – Sep 20, 2010

gary

Leslie J. Brown was born in Racine, WI on April 23, 1957 to the late Albert & Edwina (Dumas) Brown.  He was called home by his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2010.

Les was previously employed by JI Case HS as a Counselor and a Track Coach, and had recently relocated to Clayton, NC. He will be remembered by many for his record setting Track & Field accomplishments at Park High School.  He enjoyed cooking, singing – a music connoisseur… and he could put ANYthing together!   Les especially enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and lived to cherish his existence and his relationship with the Lord.

Les was engaged to be married to the love of his life, Ms. Grace Neal “Lina” of Raleigh, NC.  In addition to his fiancé, he leaves to cherish his memories 2 brothers, Minister Albert  Brown of Toledo, OH;  Brian Brown of Raleigh, NC; 2 sisters Margarita Hargrove and Melissa Brown both of Racine; 6 nieces; Kittra and Desiree’ Hargrove both of Racine, Cheree and Candace Brown both of Toledo, OH, Sharonda Brown of Carbondale, IL, and Alivia Brown of Milwaukee, WI; 2 nephews; Anthony Brown of Cincinnati, OH, and Catreal Brown of Carbondale, IL; 2 great-nieces Wynter Townsend of Racine, WI and LaTyrah Beasley of Toledo, OH, and 3 great-nephews Jaylen Townsend of Racine, WI, Christopher Brown of Toledo, OH, and Terius Harvey of Toledo, OH. Les will be missed by many special cousins, Aunts, Uncles, other  relatives and friends who further survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Edwina (Dumas) Brown, and his brother Kenneth K. Brown.

His Homegoing Service will be held on Monday, September 27th, at 11:00 a.m. in Wayman AME Church, 424 N. Memorial Dr. with Rev. Charlene B. Mills officiating. Visitation will be in the Church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials should be directed to the family to be used at a later date.
