RACINE – Mrs. Lina Van Koningsveld, 94, passed away at Villa at Lincoln Park on Thursday, April 28, 2016.
She was born in Racine on April 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Claude and Helen (nee: Van Dyke) De Graff. On May 22, 1942 she married her childhood sweetheart and love of her life, Herman Van Koningsveld. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2004.
Lina was a woman of strong faith. She was raised in the Christian Reformed Church. After her marriage she was a member of First Reformed Church. For the past 20 years she has been a faithful member of Racine Bible Church.
Lina loved music. She spent her career teaching piano and organ to hundreds of area students in her private piano studios and at the Racine College of Music. She also served as an organist and accompanist at churches of various denominations in the area. More than her love of music was her love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and she devoted her life to serving and glorifying Him.
She is survived by her children, Louis (Elaine) Van Koningsveld of Union Lake, MI, Dennis “Rick” (Kathleen) Van Koningsveld of Racine, Robert (Katherine) Van Koningsveld of Santa Clarita, CA, Doreen “Dorie” (Thom) Petersen and Gary (Colleen) Van Koningsveld both of Racine; her 14 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; her sister, Ruth Brumback; as well as dear nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lina was preceded in death by her grandsons, Michael Van Koningsveld and Derek Van Koningsveld, her sister Nell Eisel as well as her infant brother Louis De Graff and little sister Martha De Graff.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Racine Bible Church (12505 Spring Street, Sturtevant) on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 for a visitation and time to meet with her family from 10-11 a.m. A service celebrating and honoring her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Darien Bowers officiating. A private internment will take place at Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Racine Bible Church have been suggested.
The Van Koningsveld family extends a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Villa at Lincoln Park, especially nurse Becky and aides Betty and Dee for the loving care and attention they provided Lina while she was a resident there.
