Lucille Helen Wood

Feb 21, 1921 – Aug 26, 2007

Racine- Lucille Helen Wood, 86, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, August 26, 2007, with her beloved rosary clinched in her hand. A lifetime resident, Lucille was born in Racine on February 21, 1921 to the late Paul Peter and Angeline (nee: Bolander) Kobs. Among many of the places she worked, Lucille was employed by the Urban League of Racine, retiring at age 76. A kind-hearted woman with a profound Catholic faith, Lucille was a longtime member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Her family and her Lord were priority one in life. May she rest in peace. Surviving are her son, John Wood; daughter, Paulette (Al) Fauria; step-daughter, Gloria Washebek; grandchildren, Tamara (Glenn) Fitch, Hollie (Brad) Lorenz, Sara (Melvin) Adona, Laura (Brian) Stone, Scott Fauria, Thomas Owens, Danny (Katie) Hossalla, Jr., Steven Gruener, Jeremy Gruener, Craig Oren, Howie Oren III and Dusty Oren; 15 great-grandchildren; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her sons, James, Thomas and Howard Wood, Jr.; daughter, Mary Wood; grandson, Jamie Hossalla; brother, John Kobs; and sisters, Viola Duranty, Evelyn Johns and Marcella Caskey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 30, 2007 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., at 6:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Thursday from 4-6 pm. In accordance with Lucille’s wishes, cremation will follow the services. Memorials may be directed to St. Lucy Catholic Church.
