
Mrs. Lucy V. Williams, 78, passed away in hospice at WFH – All Saints on Saturday, June 4, 2011.
She was born in New Albany, MS on November 27, 1932, the daughter of William and Mattie (nee: Turner) Wilson.
Mrs. Williams loved her family and her church. A loving, Christian woman, she was a longtime member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed hearing God’s word and the beautiful music that praised His name. She was also a long time member of the missionary society.
Her survivors include her daughters, Hattie Starks-Courtney of Woodbridge, VA, Debra (Randy) Jones of Milwaukee, Gloria Starks of Washington, D.C.; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; her sister, Virginia Arthur of Racine; brother, Jim Hunt of New Albany, MS; and a host of dear nieces, nephews and other relatives. Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt Williams in 2000; her sons, Jimmy and Terry Starks; parents, William and Mattie Wilson; brothers and sister, Robert, Troy and Mattie Pulliam and Arthur Wilson.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church (1120 Grand Ave.) on Friday, June 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. for the celebration of Lucy’s life and Homegoing with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Her interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. There will be a visitation in the church on Friday from 10-11 a.m.
