Mabel Jackson

vet
Mar 5, 1925 – Mar 9, 2012

Mr. Mabel Jackson, 87, made a quiet exit from this earthly life on Saturday, March 10, 2012.  He passed away at WFH- All Saints.

He was born in Brent, AL on March 5, 1925 to the proud parents of Berry and Edna (nee: Wooley) Jackson. Mabel served his nation proudly with the U.S. Army during WWII in the North Atlantic Campaign.  After the war he moved north and made Racine his permanent home.

Mabel was employed by American Motors/Daimler Chrysler.  He retired in 1985 after 38 ½ years of service.  While at Chrysler, Mabel was very active with the UAW, serving as steward.

He was an avid sports fan and loved cooking, sports cars and motorcycles.  However, he most enjoyed being in the company of his family.  He was a devoted father and grandfather.  Affectionately known as “Spider”, “Uncle Bill”, “Daddy”, “Paw Paw” and “Buddy”, he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mabel is survived by his son, Marvin Jackson, three grandsons, Kevon Jackson, Nickendrick Jackson, Quan Jackson, two granddaughters, Chavandalyn Jackson, Ashley Jackson and one great granddaughter, Nickeyiah Jackson all of Racine.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and a host of relatives.   In addition to his parents Mabel was preceded in death by three sisters, Venolia Roach, Irene Stills, Jerolene Barker, his brother, Eurvee Jackson, two nephews, Eurvee Jackson, Jr., Alan Jackson, his special niece, Edna Mae Parrott and dear friend, Dorothy Jordan.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. for the celebration of Mabel’s life and Homegoing with Pastor Willie Riley officiating.  There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 a.m.  His interment will follow the service at Graceland Cemetery with full military honors.
