Marie Rose Hanson

Aug 3, 1930 – Jun 8, 2012

Kenosha – Marie Rose Hanson, 81, passed away at Kenosha Memorial Hospital on Friday, June 8, 2012.  She was born in Marshfield, WI on August 3, 1930 to the late Louis and Lillian (nee: Budtke) Bredl. On August 13, 1949 she was married to E. Wayne Hanson.  They then moved to Kenosha.

Marie loved gardening and her “green thumb” blossomed into owning and operating Hanson’s Hillside Greenhouse for many years.  Together she and Wayne made many friends and happy memories while dancing, traveling in their motor home, camping and snowmobiling.  Marie loved to play sheepshead, bingo, and Sequence.  Marie was a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother.  She was a member of St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, Racine.

Marie will be missed by her children, Gary (Katie) Hanson of Union Grove, Karen (Norm) Mattson, and Mark (Kathy) Hanson both of Kenosha; grandchildren, Ann (Joe) Lininger, Jill (Matt) Lininger, Kurt (Beth) Mattson, Kelly (Randy) White, Jasmine (Jasen) Lohr, Jordan Hanson, and step-grandchildren, Kirsten May, and Kristian May, 5 great-grandchildren, (with one on the way); her brother, Ralph (Mary) Bredl of Arkansas, her sister- in- law, Muriel Bell of Marshfield, as well as by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, including Etta Bredl. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; and her sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Gene Lutz.

The funeral mass for Marie will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Avenue, Racine, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.  Visitation will begin at church at 9:00 a.m.  Contributions in Marie’s memory to Ronald McDonald House Charities have been suggested.
