Marika Renee Jennings

Nov 19, 1934 – Jun 5, 2010

Racine – Sister Marika Renee Jennings, 75, passed away at WFH – St. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday, June 5, 2010. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on November 19, 1934, daughter of the late Bill and Sammy Tyson. At an early age, she and her family moved to Racine. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. Marika retired from AT&T, where she was a telephone operator for over 20 years. She’ll be remembered by many for her funny personality and for the special love she had for her family and her cats. She loved music, and often performed as a D.J. in many local venues, social events, and weddings. She was a member of the Merry Makers Club; and a long-time member of Wayman AME Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Attiyya (Jalal) Nuruddin of Milwaukee, Kyra Ahmad, and Kelly Goines both of Racine; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and her cousin, Jacqueline Gaither of Arizona; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband and the father of her children, Harold Foxie, and her 2nd husband, John F. Jennings.

Homegoing services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010, with Pastor Charlene Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. All are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Memorials to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Countryside Humane Society have been suggested.

To the family of Marika, please know that your Mom, our Friend and My Cohort for many years, will always be remembered and held dear to our hearts. Marika had a definite impact on my days of MC’ing the Annual Fashion Shows of the infamous Merry Makers Club!!!
May God Bless the family during your time of bereavement.
    Marika was truly loved!

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

After the passing of our loved one, the time came to make the arrangements for his funeral and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more kind and caring as Mark was. He picked up on all the little details and things we held close to our hearts and made the celebration of this wonderful man’s life very special. Even playing taps along with the honor guard, Mark we can’t thank you enough…our heartfelt thanks go out to you and the staff.
Sincerely, THE GENE GRABHER FAMILY

Linda
