Racine – Marjorie Loris (nee: Whitley) Langlois, age 92, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, August 6, 2013 surrounded with the love of her family at her home, following a courageous battle with congestive heart failure.
Marjorie was born in Kenosha on January 31, 1921 to the late Thomas and Loris (nee: Pomeroy) Whitley. She graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1939”, where she met the love of her life, Warren W. Langlois. As high school sweethearts and as their love grew stronger, Margie and Warren were married in Atonement Lutheran Church on June 6, 1942. Early in her working career, she was employed by Wisconsin Natural Gas, Goldblatt’s and Snyder’s Dime Store. Many years later, after raising her children, Margie returned to school where she graduated at the top of her class from Gateway Technical College with a LPN degree. Margie thoroughly enjoyed serving our community as a nurse in the Women’s & Infants Unit of St. Luke’s Hospital – until her retirement in 1985.
With a profound Christian faith, Margie was a faithful member of Atonement Lutheran Church where she formerly served as Superintendant, Sunday School Teacher and was active with various women’s circles. Years ago, she was a devoted Girl Scout leader. Among their interests, Margie and Warren were worldwide travelers and square danced with their friends from Circle 8. Margie loved tending to her dogs, cats and tropical fish; was an avid reader (still using her Kindle up until this week); was a talented artist; and had a lifelong passion for horses – owning and riding until age 65. Above all, Margie was an outstanding wife, mother and grandmother who always looked forward to being in the surroundings of her entire family.
Surviving are her children, Patty (Jerry) Alton, Penny Matson, Tom (Cindy) Langlois, Terry Ann Simon and Warren R. (Karin) Langlois; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Margie was preceded in death by her adored husband, Warren on March 15, 2012; son-in-law, Michael Simon; sisters, Dorothy Richards and Barbara Ann Dummer; and by Warren’s parents, William and Marie (nee: Iverson) Langlois.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 10 am in Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 pm and in the church on Saturday from 9-10 am. Memorials to Atonement Lutheran Church have been suggested.

To the entire Langlois family, It’s alway’s sad to lose a loved one, but all of you had such a wonderful LONG time to share with your Mom and Dad.
