Racine – Mary Alice Zeisberger, age 84, passed away at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Monday, August 17, 2020.

Mary Alice was born at Mercy Hospital in Janesville, WI on July 15, 1936, to the late Herbert and Lillian (nee: Brohm) Held. She was a 1954 graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. On August 4, 1956, in Holy Name Catholic Church, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Joseph Zeisberger. Her heart was broken when he passed away on April 18, 2016, after nearly 60 years of marriage.

After graduating from cosmetology school in 1957, Mary Alice was employed as a beautician at a local salon. She retired from Lincoln Lutheran in 1997. Over her lifetime, Mary held other jobs that she loved, especially working for Lee’s Hardware.

Mary Alice & Joseph were proudly active with the Loyal Order of Moose. They enjoyed travelling and were avid snowbirds, spending many winters in Ft. Myers, FL. During their travels around the nation, they liked to visit other moose lodges. Among her interests, Mary Alice enjoyed playing cards – especially Schafkopf & Cribbage; browsing rummage & estate sales; and cooking & baking. Mary Alice was always happy to host holidays and Sunday breakfasts for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also made sure all of her family members’ birthdays were celebrated properly. Mary Alice had a giving heart and a sweet personality. She made everyone feel as if they were the most important person in her life and was more than a mother to her children – she was their best friend. Mary Alice and Joseph lived at Mt. Pleasant Place (formerly Lincoln Village) for over 20 years, where they made a positive and lasting impression on their fellow residents.

Mary Alice is survived by her children, Julie (Greg) Helding of Mount Pleasant, Tina (Greg Widmer) Zeisberger of Woodstock, IL; Lorrie (Bryan) Emmons of Mt. Pleasant, Mary Jo (Mark) Audenby of Mt. Pleasant, and Joe (Lisa) Zeisberger of Venice, FL; 10 grandchildren, Kristy (Jason Holub) Moore, Katie Winnen, Melissa (Andy) Meyers, Robert (Jamie) Meyers, Kevin Meyers, Kyle (Summer) Ostlund, Lucas Ostlund, Maryellen (George) Audenby, Mitchell (Kayla) Audenby and Franz Joseph Zeisberger V; and 14 great-grandchildren (whom lovingly called her their “Oma”), Noah, Lilly, Elijah, Charlotte, Kendyll, Anna, Jimmy, Robert, Jacob, Courtney, Kyle “K.C.”, Kora Lynn, Ila & Izloe; brother, Herb (Marion) Held; brother-in-law, Tony Widmar; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends—too numerous to mention all by name. Mary Alice was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Herbert & Lillian; husband, Joseph; and sisters, Virginia (Al) Green and Katie Widmar.

A memorial service will be held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, August 21, 2020, at 11:00 am. Private burial will take place in Old Holy Cross Cemetery – Kinzie Avenue. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

A heartfelt note of thanks to the wonderful staff at Ascension All Saints Hospital – especially Dr. Jerry Hardacre and ICU nurse Melissa, for the compassionate care and support given in our Mom’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Bob,
I just wanted to thank you again for all your help and everything you did for my grandfather’s funeral. Looking back on it, I think Gramps would have been so proud of how everything turned out and it would not have been possible without your help. Your staff is amazing and has allowed us the grieve without worrying about the little details of everything that goes into making the arrangements and planning the services. You helped us honor one of the most amazing men in my life, and it meant so much to me personally and to my family. Thank you for everything.
Take care,
Jessie Tuttle
