Michael Stephen May

Jan 1, 1974 – Mar 26, 2011

Michael Stephen May, 37, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, March 26, 2011. He was born the New Years Day Baby at 12:01, January 1, 1974. The son of Michael and Patricia (nee: Malmstadt) May. Michael attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated in 1992 from Washington Park High School.

Mike was a Journeyman Pipefitter with Local 118.  He loved his work and excelled in these skills.  He was employed at Mechanical Associates of Wisconsin, Inc. for 11 years and various contractors throughout SE Wisconsin and northern Illinois.  Mike  was an avid Packers fan, and cheered on all Wisconsin teams. He played football, soccer, baseball, basketball, softball and enjoyed golf and fishing. He was an incredible movie buff and could quote lines from his favorite movies at any time.  He was also an avid reader and his family could always call on Mike for their “fix-it” needs.

Mike is survived by his much loved “miracle two pound” twins, Leah Rose and Joseph Michael May, now age 5, and their mom, Mike’s greatest blessing, Christina (nee: Carel) May-Orwahl.  Also his loving mom, Patricia Malmstadt; brother, Andrew J. May; grandmother, Carolyn S. Bung ,  and his special aunts, Carol “Auntie C” (Rudy) Haluska and Susan (Tedd Runge) Malmstadt. Further survived by his childhood family Jackie, Jenni,  Joel and stepdad Jer. He leaves a family of close cousins: Steve, Tere, Chris, Carolyn, Lindsay, Laurie, Carissa, Leslie, Rissa, Jami and  Mindi, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins from the May family and many close friends.  He was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents, Lester Malmstadt, Wayne Bung, Sylvester and Mary May; and uncle, Dennis Malmstadt.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, 2011 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Because Mike was such a huge Packer fan, everyone is encouraged to wear the Green and Gold. Committal Service will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials for the benefit of his children are encouraged.

Testimonials

June 24, 2020

Can’t thank Gary and you all enough for our fathers funeral arrangements (Victor Joseph Morris) June 18th, 2020.
He would have been SO proud. So many little personal details that we were not even expecting, totally overwhelmed us. From the pamphlets to the thank-you notes and copies of the video, to the beautiful casket picture and arrangement. Pop looked as proud as he was in life. And thanks also to the very cooperative and helpful staff. We thought it would take much longer to knock this all out at our one and only meeting with Gary. We did not want to overlook, or forget to give our heartfelt thanks for such wonderful service at such a horrible time in our lives.
God Bless,
Bob Morris
