Racine – Louise Hunter, 85, was born June 14, 1934 to the union of Andrew and Carrie (nee: Peaches) Strong in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Louise received her formal education from Balmer High in Vicksburg, MS. Louise, received the Lord as her personal savior 55 years ago during a Holy Ghost filled service in North Carolina. Upon relocating to Wisconsin, she served on the mother board under the leadership of the late Pastor Prentiss Robbins Sr. at the Rose of Sharon Church until the Lord provided her with her own mission and vision – Love & Charity. Mother Hunter as she was affectionately called, embodied the scripture Matthew 25:40 “Truly I tell you whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” not only did she say she was feeding Jesus, she did it, and she meant it naturally and spiritually! With a servant’s heart she served the least to the greatest up until she was physically unable to do so.

In 1955 Louise was joined in marriage to James Hunter Sr. the love of her life and that union was blessed with 21 children. In her youth she helped to support her family working as a chef in various restaurants and the Lord used those skills and talents to bless the multitudes by her hands. She has cooked for the entire community of Racine. Every morning she served a hot breakfast in the kitchen of Love and Charity Mission that was founded to help those who were less fortunate. Each holiday she prepared complete holiday dinners for the homeless as if she was cooking for her own family and she joyfully served them. For those that chose to dine at home she provided them the food to prepare; they entered the mission doors empty handed and they left with boxes filled with food, toys for their children, clothing, and basic household essentials. Although, it was important for Mother Hunter to feed and shelter those who lacked; nothing was more important than feeding them spiritually. She would hold weekly bible studies and worship services with the help of visiting Pastors and local volunteers from various churches within the community. Each and every opportunity Mother Hunter had to glorify God, to worship Him, to praise, and commune with Him she did so from the depths of her soul up until the moment she received eternal life on February 29, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Carrie Strong; her late husband James Hunter Sr.; siblings Hattie Price, Margaret Hunt, Jesse James, Joseph Holmes, and Andrew Strong; children Thomas Hunter and James Hunter Jr.

She leaves her beloved husband Eugene Milligan of Tennessee; 17 children Elizabeth (Benny) Brown of California, Selestine Jackson, Barbara Ann Strong, Mike Hunter, Greg (Roche) Hunter and  Elsie Hunter all of Racine, WI, Doug (Loretta) Hunter, Jacqueline Hunter, Connie Hunter, Sonia Hunter, Timothy (Kim) Hunter and Lashonda Hunter of all Minnesota, Paul Hunter and Zollena Mallett of Texas. Bonnie Hunter of Florida, Larry Hunter Sr. of Tennessee and Patrick (Robin) Hunter of Georgia. She is the loved and adored grandmother of 67 grandchildren, 3 of which she raised as her own, Delray Hunter, Calaia Coleman, and Destiny Neeley and over 150 great-grandchildren She also leaves the last of her parent’s children, her sister Pastor Virginia Lackey to cherish many precious memories, as well as a host of nieces,  other relatives and friends.

Woman of God, Take Your Rest!!

A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2020 11:00am at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1123 Center St., Racine, WI.  Visitation will be in the church from 9:00am until the time of service.

There will also be a Visitation on Friday, March 13, 2020, 4:00 – 7:00pm in the Chapel of Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Rd., Racine, WI.

Matthew 25:35-40 King James Version (KJV)
35 For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:

36 Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37 Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38 When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?

39 Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Mother Hunter LIVED these scriptures! Well done!
