Nancy Ann Belongia, 80, passed away at WFH All Saints Hospital on Tuesday, August 13, 2013. She was born in Milwaukee on May 7, 1933, daughter of the late Theodore and Rose (nee: Klass) Scholzen. Most of her life was spent living in Racine.
Nancy was employed at All Saints Hospital for more than 25 years, where she worked as a Dietary Clerk in the Diet Office. She enjoyed working with her hands, gardening, doing arts and crafts. She often knitted afghans and baby sweaters and booties as gifts for young expectant mothers. Her handmade greeting cards brightened the days of many of her friends. As a woman of strong faith, she prayed the rosary every day, and was a faithful member of St. Richard’s Catholic Church.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Pamela Belongia: her son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Analyn Belongia; her brother, David Scholzen and her sister and brother-in-law, Patricia and Michael Koutelakis; and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Roth; and close relatives; Dorothy Peterson, Bob Luedtke and Ruth Thurman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan Stock.
The funeral mass for Nancy will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at St. Richard’s Catholic Church (15th and Grand Avenue), with Rev. Ron Gramza officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will begin in the church at 10:00 a.m. Memorials to the All Saints Cancer Center have been suggested.
Dorothy J. Peterson says
My heart goes out to all the family of our sweet precious Nancy. I will cherish the memories I had with her these last few years. Our visit last fall could not have been more perfect. It was a beautiful day with all the colors of the season. We drove around Racine and reminisced about our early years, etc. Going to Grandmother Klass’s house brought back a flood of memories. Nancy was special and I hope everyone will celebrate her life!
