Oswald "Ozzie" Young

vet
Mar 25, 1918 – Apr 15, 2015

Racine – Oswald Young, affectionately known as “Ozzie”, 97, received the promise of eternal life on Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at the Wisconsin Veterans Home – Boland Hall.  He was born in Brazeau on March 25, 1918, son of the late Gustav and Louisa (nee: Chrinetsk) Cudnohusky.

Ozzie was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Helen Margaret Smith, on February, 14th in 1948 at Holy Communion Church in Racine Wisconsin.  Helen preceded Ozzie in death on January 19, 1987, age 61

Ozzie worked for Massey Ferguson, Dumore, and retired from Twin Disc as a hydraulic converter tester.  He proudly and faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1941 until 1945.  Ozzie was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church.  He was also a member of the Eagle’s Club.  Ozzie was a talented mechanic and was proud of his 1941 Chevrolet.  He loved repairing and overhauling used automobiles.  He also enjoyed swimming and perch fishing.  Ozzie loved his family very much and will be dearly missed.

Ozzie leaves to cherish his memory, his children, Steven (Debra Jo) Young of Belgium, WI, Susan Young-Pias of Sturtevant; grandchildren, Lucas Young, Jordan Young, Krystle Street, Nicholas Pias; great-grandson, Quentin Street; sister-in-law, Marie Price; other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ozzie is preceded in death by his sister, Ella (John) Klonovich; brothers, Ernest Young, Max Young, Harry (Irene) Cudnohusky; and brother-in-law, James Price.

A celebration of Ozzie’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, 5:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road.  Visitation will be from 3:00pm until the time of the service.  Burial will take place on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, 10:00am, at Graceland Cemetery.

The Young family would like to thank the staff at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home – Boland Hall, the staff of Vitas Hospice, and the staff at Home Harbor for all that they have done for Ozzie.

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
