
Racine – Penny L. Brever; age 72; passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, September 9, 2015 at Azura Memory Care Center – South in Kenosha.
Penny was born in Racine on March 22, 1943 to the late Leo and Pearl “Joyce” (nee: Huck) Peters. A graduate of Washington Park High School, she went on to work in retail for most of her career at Turnstyle, Shopko and Factory Card Outlet.
On June 12, 1965 at St. Lucy Catholic Church, Penny was united in marriage with the love of her life, Norman H. Brever. She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Racine Bowling Association, Wisconsin State Women’s Bowling Association and Racine Bowling Hall of Fame. Penny was not only an avid bowler but was a well-respected bowling coach – especially at Hillside Lanes. Penny’s other hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, baking and was an animal advocate – having had a special place in her heart for her all of her dogs. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 50 years, Norman; their children, Barrett (Amy) Brever of Lacy, WA; Brady (Clystyne) Brever of LaCrosse, WI; and Brett (Debbie) Brever of Waterford, WI; grandchildren, Blayne, MacKenzie, Alexander, Matney, Elijah, Joab, Meghan, Molly and Madelyn; sisters-in-law, Annette (Joe) Richey and Rita (Kim) McCarty; brothers-in-law, Larry (Pat Hughes) Brever and Henry Brever.
In addition to her parents, Penny was preceded in death by her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Brever and Marie Brever; and by Norman’s parents, John & Katherine (nee: Menheer) Brever.
A Service of Remembrance celebrating Penny’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 6:00 pm with Rev. Terrance J. Huebner officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
