Phyllis M. Larsen

Jan 14, 1924 – Oct 22, 2009

Union Grove – Phyllis M. Larsen, 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital on Thursday, October 22, 2009. She was born in Cicero, Illinois on January 14, 1924, daughter of the late Max and Adele (nee: Vasahlik) Laube. Phyllis was married to Robert Larsen on October 11, 1947 in Waukegan, Illinois. They then made their home in Racine.

Phyllis enjoyed a successful career as the office manager at King Ehrlich Realty, but being a great mom and caring for her family was her number one priority. Phyllis was very active in the Racine Kiltie Parent’s Club and made several lifelong friendships with other Kiltie parents. She was also a former a member of Atonement Lutheran Church. In 1980, she and Robert relocated to warm Sun City, Arizona. After her husband’s death in 2000 she returned to Racine to be near her son and his family. Phyllis had a life-long love of books, and read many thousands of novels ranging from Tolstoy to romance novels. Until later in life she always cared for the family pets. “Chopper” and “Andy” were her two beloved sheepdogs.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Julie Larsen, Jr., their children, Taylor Larsen and Kristina Bezotte; and her brother, Earl Laube of Waukegan. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Norman; and sisters, Adele, and Florence.

Private services were held Thursday; October 29, 2009 at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran Memorial Cemetery officiated by Rev. Brad Brown. Memorials in her memory to the Racine Literacy Council or your favorite charity have been suggested.

The family would like to thank the staff of both Home Harbor Assisted Living (Racine) and the staff of the Oak Ridge Care Center (Union Grove) for their compassionate care of Phyllis over the last years.

The Family of Barbara Bell

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024. Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you. Michael, you demonstrated professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state. Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief. May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)
