STURETVANT – Reinhart T. Dykstra, 93, passed away at Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove on Tuesday, February 27, 2018.
He was born in Racine County on November 29, 1924, the son of the late Thomas and Cora (nee: Post) Dykstra. On June 19, 1948, he married Carrol Rose Husman.
Reinhart worked at Western Publishing for over 41 years, retiring as manager of the art department. He was also a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church.
Reinhart was a talented artist and created many wood carvings and oil paintings throughout his life. He was an enthusiastic antique collector as well as having an appreciation for fountain pens. Reinhart enjoyed golfing with his friends and spending time in the company of his family.
In addition to his loving wife Carrol, he is survived by his daughter, Sally Dykstra both of Sturtevant; his daughter-in-law, Cathy Dykstra of Fort Wayne, IN; his grandchildren, Keri Colburn of Yorkville, Matt Tieze of Union Grove, Katie (Matt) Spinks and Ben (Lisa) Dykstra both of Indiana; his great grandchildren, Jonathan Wassam, Brett Wassam, Trent Roberts, Matthew Tieze, Nate Tieze, Samuel Spinks and Rainbow Spinks; his great-great grandchild, Brysen Wassam; his sister and brothers, Clare Purnell of Caledonia, Andy (Joan) Dykstra of Pewaukee, Si (Lucy) Dykstra of Wauwatosa; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kim Dykstra; his grandson, Andy Dykstra and his siblings, Clarence, Nell, Jeanette, Sharon, Grace and Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to meet at Faith Lutheran Church (8500 Durand Ave) on Monday, March 5, 2018 for a visitation and time to meet with the Dykstra family from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. A service celebrating his life and memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Mortenson officiating. A private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials have been suggested to Faith Lutheran Church.
The Dykstra family extends a heartfelt thank you to Oak Ridge Care Center in Union Grove and Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving and professional attention Reiny received while under their care.
