Richard Bruce Britton

Aug 23, 1940 – Nov 10, 2023

Service Details

A private celebration of Richard’s life will be held.

WIND POINT – Richard Britton of Wind Point, 83 passed away at the Woods of Caledonia on Friday, November 10, 2023.

He was born in Ohio on 8/23/1940 to his parents Willard and Lucille (Young).

Richard is survived by his wife of 31 years Karen Van Lone, his three children Steven (Jennifer) of Atlanta, Shawn (Lisa) of Sacramento, Christine (Pete Janovicz) of Kenosha, and six wonderful grandchildren Lauren, Amanda, Ryan, Sydney, Owen, and Jacob.

Richard served in the US Army (1958-1962) before getting his BBA at the University of Toledo. After completing his studies, he went on to retire from Modine as an executive after 28 years of service.

He was a member of the Faithbridge Church in Racine, the Racine Yacht Club, and part of the Modine 20-year club.

Richard enjoyed traveling, sailing, movies, photography, eating chili dogs (with onions), and the desire to continue to learn about things that interested him in life. He cherished his time visiting with his grandchildren and was often seen laughing over many of life’s funny / not-so-serious moments. He very much loved his family and will be missed greatly.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Woods of Caledonia for the love and attention Richard received while under their care.

A private celebration of Richard’s life will be held.

We are so fortunate to have had the opportunity to spend time with our uncle from the other side of the globe. So many memories shared travelling, exploring, settling in abroad, eating out and just enjoying life’s less serious moments together. I will always remember getting my nickname, Spike, which has stuck with me for the past 33 years and there aren’t any signs of it leaving me anytime soon!

Uncle Dick will always be remembered fondly by family near and far. Those we love don’t go away. They walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near.

    May he rest in peace.

    With all our love.
Jeremy (Spike), Michelle, Levi, Owen and Zach Fink

Mike Langendorf, my parents told me of your kindness, generosity, and servitude when we lost my brother. They needed that strength and your light came through. Thank you! Anne T.
