Robert John Leszczynski

vet
Aug 28, 1932 – Mar 12, 2012

Racine – Robert John Leszczynski, 79, received the promise of eternal life on Sunday, March 12, 2012.  He was born in Racine on August 28, 1932, son of the late John and Sophie (nee: Kielar) Leszczynski.

Bob graduated from St. Catherine’s High School in 1950.  Following high school, he faithfully served his country in the United States Army during Korea.  Bob was the patriarch of the family.  He was a giving man with a lot of class.  Bob’s glowing personality would light up a room and people would tend to gravitate toward him.  He loved staying in touch with friends with his WebTV.  Bob enjoyed many trips over the years to Door County in autumn to see the fall colors.  You might have also found him in downtown Chicago where he loved to shop. Bob will be dearly missed by his entire family and many, many friends.

Bob leaves to cherish his memory, his sister, Alice Rigby of Racine; nieces and nephews, Debra (Marty) Schwartz, David Schneider, DeeDee (Steve Sonnen) Hedges, Phillip “PJ” (Jody) Rigby, all of Racine; great-nieces, Tori Hedges, Allie Hedges,  Bailey Rigby; faithful four legged companion, Lucy; and a host of relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his sister, Sally (Don) Schneider; and brother-in-law, John Rigby.

A memorial service for Bob with full military honors will be celebrated on Friday, March 16, 2012, 6pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  Visitation will be from 4pm until the time of the service.  Private interment will take place on a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia.

The family would like to thank the staff at WFH – All Saints, especially the cardiac unit and hospice for the love and care they gave to Bob during his illness.  God bless you all!

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the members of Bob’s family; I know he will be dearly missed. Although not in the same department, Bob’s Dept. and mine worked together for many years at J. I. Case, and HE could often be called upon to “solve” a problem in his own unique way, that left all the rest of us puzzled!
