Ronald D. Messerschmidt

    Ronald D. Messerschmidt, 76, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan Hospital-Franklin, on Monday, July 22, 2013.  Ron was born in Merrill, WI on July 13, 1937, the son of the late Hubert and Ruth (nee: Baumann) Messerschmidt. On Oct. 20, 1956, in Merrill, he married his high school sweetheart, Joyce Hill. They moved to the Racine County Area in 1959, living in Burlington, Kansasville, Union Grove and then Sturtevant.

    Ron graduated from Merrill Senior High School in 1955. He enlisted in the National Guard on October 16, 1958 and was discharged on October 17, 1961, he was also discharged from the U.S. Army on Sept. 30, 1961. Ron had been employed by A.M.C.- Chrysler for over 27 years, until they shut down the assembly line in 1988. Ron took semi training in Sun Prairie and drove for several months. He worked at Lutheran High School for 10 years, retiring in 2000. Ron owned and operated Ron’s Northside Mobil for nearly 4 years. He also drove for Roger’s Towing, in Zion IL, and Palmen Dodge/Jeep dealer trades.

     Ron was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant, where he served on the Elder’s Board, ushered, and was the church delegate to Lutheran High School. He was a member of the Chrysler 20 Year Club and the U.A.W. Local 72 Retirees.
     Surviving are his wife Joyce, their children, Gary Messerschmidt, of Merrill, Keith (Linda) Messerschmidt, of Franksville, Cathy (Michael) Christman, of Sturtevant, grandchildren, Rebecca (David) Bruck, of Seattle, WA, Brittany Christman, of Sturtevant, Ryan Olsen, of Oak Creek, and Michael Olsen, of Jefferson, WI, great grandchildren, Venice Bruck, Alex and Zoe Olsen, sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna (Alvin) Foster, of Merrill, Bonnie Hill, of Rothschild, WI, Lorraine (Edward) Hermanson, of Lewiston, ID, and Rosanne Kluck, of Wausau, WI, brother and sisters-in-law, Rodney (Kim) Messerschmidt, of Tomahawk, WI, and Patricia Messerschmidt, of Wausau. His nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends, also survive him. In addition to his parents, Ron was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Susan Messerschmidt, brothers, Roy Allen, and Roger Messerschmidt, sister, Doris Bernhardt, brothers-in-law, Robert Hill, Raymond Hill, Carl Hill, Mike Bernhardt, and Dennis Kluck.

   His funeral service will held in Faith Lutheran Church, 8500 Durand Ave., Sturtevant, on Saturday, July 27th, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Gary Ruckman officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the Church on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Private burial will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Faith Lutheran Church.
