Roy K. Jensen

vet
Jul 6, 1928 – Oct 15, 2011

Racine- Roy K. Jensen, 83, passed away at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center on Saturday, October 15, 2011.

A lifetime resident, Roy was born in Racine on July 6, 1928 to the late Victor and Ida (nee: Duwe) Jensen. He faithfully served our Country with the United States Navy.

Among several occupations during his lifetime, Roy was a talented self-employed home improvement specialist. He was a phenomenal cook, gifted gardener, and an old-time movie buff – especially a fan of John Wayne. Above all, Roy enjoyed being in the surroundings of his entire family.

Surviving are his children, Catherine (Steven) VanMeerbeek, Pat (John) Rangel, John (Jan) Jensen, Johanna (Richard) Rivers, Susan Scheit, Jacqueline (Tommie) Falcone, Cheryll (Richard) Meekma, Mark (Sherry) Meekma, David (Robin) Meekma and Scott  Meekma; 34 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; former wife and longtime friend, Dorothy (nee: Draeger) Trapp; sister, Nancy Dorman; brother, Alfred Jensen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Jensen, who preceded him in death in 1999; son, Christian T. Jensen, who passed away in 1967; and grandson, Nick Rangel, who passed away in 1990.

In accordance with Roy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service celebrating Roy’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 9:30 am with Chaplain Terry Peterson officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 8:30 – 9:30 am. In honor of Roy, memorials to the family have been suggested.

A special note of thanks to Lincoln Village Convalescent Center; Dr. Ronald Schulgit; and Hospice Alliance for the compassionate care and support given to Roy in his time of need.

Testimonials

October 9, 2020

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family

Theresa Lynn Carls
