
Sallie Mae Tucker fell asleep in death after losing her 14 year battle with breast cancer on Wednesday February 24, 2010 at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital. She was born on April 6, 1920 to Nathaniel and Carrie (Nee:Jenkins-Tyler) Ellis in Columbus, Ms. She married Ollie Tucker in 1944. He proceeded Sallie in death in 1969. Sallie worked in the food service industry for the City State College of Women (in Columbus, Ms), and did domestic work as well. Upon retiring she moved to Racine, Wi in 1973 to reside with her daughter Willa and her beloved son-in-law the late Westley Hargrove Sr. Sallie had a hand in the rearing of their five children and continued to keep a close relationship with them up to the time of her passing. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses baptized on December 12, 1976, a member of the Lockwood congregation. Sallie enjoyed sewing, baking and music. She was known for her generosity, gracefulness, her quick wit, her zeal for Jehovah and her ministry. Surviving are : her daughters Ann Johnson and Willa Hargrove of Racine, Wi, 2 sisters Mary Richards and Clara Golston of Chicago, Il. Her Grandchildren Diane(Carl)Wainwright of Indianapolis, In., Johnny(Shelly)Harris, Wayne Harris and Gail Harris of St. Paul, Mn, Donald Harris of Golden Valley, Mn , Randy Harris of St. Paul, Mn., Wesley Hargrove Jr and Renee Hargrove of Mpls, Mn, Charles(Rosa) Hargrove of Brooklyn Park, Mn, Colin(Pat)Hargrove and Sally Hargrove of Racine, Wi. Sallie was also survived by 22 great grandchildren, 17 great- great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as, her dearest friend Sister Kathleen Pfeiffer, and her spiritually adopted family. She was proceeded in death by her parents, her husband: Ollie Tucker (as previously mentioned), 4 brothers: Walter Ellis, Nathaniel Ellis, Sylvester Ellis and Robert Ellis, 2 sisters: Adeline Johnson and Daisy Coleman, 2 sons-in-law: Larry Johnson and the afore mentioned Westley Hargrove Sr., 4 brothers-in-law: Harry Coleman, Otis Johnson, Willie Golston, John Richards, 2 sisters-in-law: Lula Ellis, Minnie Ellis and many more relatives . Sallie was affectionately referred to as “Mamma T” by 3 of her great grandchildren: Nathaniel, Natalia and Nehemiah all of whom kept close ties with her. During her last days Sallie also took much delight in the family feline “Muggzy”. Sallie believed in the resurrection hope which is promised in John 5:28,29. We will miss Sallie, but look foward to reuniting with her, a time when, “Death will be no more, nor outcry, nor pain anymore” Rev 21:3,4. A memorial service will be held on Saturday March 6, 2010 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 1600 N. Sommerset Dr. Racine, Wi. Visitation at 1:30 with the service promptly at 2pm. My Grandmother was an absolute treasure. I was named after her, and she was the only living Grandparent that I ever knew. I will always celebrate her life because I was blessed to have this woman in my life.
