Sandra M. Schaefer

Jun 7, 1963 – May 31, 2013

Sandra M. Schaefer, 49, passed away in Aurora-St. Luke Medical Center, on Friday, May 31, 2013. Sandra was born in Racine on June 7, 1963, the daughter of David and Beverly (nee: Fiskum) Schaefer.

Sandra had been employed by Western Publishing Co. for over 15 years in the purchasing department, until her health would no longer permit her to work. She was the fun loving aunt everyone wanted to have. She especially enjoyed the family gatherings.

Surviving are her father, David Schaefer, sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Tom Hall, all of Racine, nieces, Sara (Steve Paulausky), of Cedar Lake, IN, and Jena Hall, of Racine, great nephew, Mason, and great niece, Autumn. Her aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends also survive her. Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Beverly, brother, Donald Schaefer, and grandparents, Walter and Grace Schaefer, and Elmer and Mae Fiskum.

Her memorial service will be held, in the funeral home, on Tuesday, June 4th at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Private entombment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Park at a later date.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all at the Willowcrest Care Facility for all their services and support they have given Sandy over the past years.

Dawn and Tom, my deepest sympathy for your loss. I never thought of Sandy as your sister, but as a friend during our early years together. She was one of the sweetest people you’ll ever want to meet. Please take care, Karen Rosin

They don’t make them like Sandy anymore. Her infectious laughter and cheerful nature has always brought joy to everyone’s lives. We know you miss her terribly, her cousins miss her just as much. We will continue to honor her memory and have you in all our prayers.

My deepest sympathy goes out to you, Sandy’s family. Her unexpected loss has been truly felt at Willowcrest and by me. I was her nurse during the night, yet I felt more like her friend. We shared a lot of the same health issues, especially pain, and it gives me comfort knowing that she now is free from that suffering. I have cared for Sandy since her arrival at Willowcrest and saw her blossom into such a vibrant, independent woman over these past years. We both had gone through many ups and downs and it was always nice to be her listening ear when she couldn’t sleep. And she always showed such concern over my health issues, too. I know how hard it was for her to have this surgery so soon after the loss of her brother, but she knew there wasn’t another option. I know how much she loved her family. I truly will miss her and our almost nightly chats, but I know she is smiling down on us all. May God be with your entire family as you grieve both Sandy and her brother’s loss.

Sandy will be missed by everyone. I didn’t get to see her often but when I did she always had a smile on her face. May she rest in peace and now be in the company of her mom and Don.
