Sharon L. Johnson

Sep 2, 1956 – Mar 13, 2011

     

   Sharon L. Johnson, 54, passed away at her residence on Sunday, March 13, 2011.

   She was born in Racine on September 2, 1956 the daughter of   Robert and the late Patricia (nee: Carroll) Wallenta.  On September 8, 2001, she married Clay Johnson in Covenant Presbyterian Church.

   Sharon owned and operated Sharon’s Cleaning Service for over 10 years. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, was an active participant of the Racine Theatre Guild and a charter member of the Westosha Lakes Sweet Adelines Chorus. Sharon also enjoyed traveling with her husband, Clay.

    Surviving are her husband Clay; daughter, Angie (Ryan) Menke, of Lexington, KY; step daughters, Becky (Rob) Idstein,  Sandy (Dan) Dieck,  all of Racine, Lacey Johnson, of Phoenix, AZ, and Kelli Johnson, of Iuka, MS; father, Robert (Helen) Wallenta, of Crossville, TN; sisters and brothers,  Linda (Randy) Husman, of Oshkosh, Carol (Jerry) Cooper, of Kenosha,  Thomas (Theresa) Wallenta, of Las Vegas, NV and David (Mary) Wallenta, of Racine;  and brother-in-law Bobbie Sylvester, in Ohio. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive her. In addition to her mother, Patricia Wallenta, Sharon was preceded in death by her sister Cynthia Sylvester.

      Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. in Covenant Presbyterian Church (40 Ohio St.) on Friday March 18, 2011 with Rev. Melanie Hammond Clark officiating. A visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In keeping with Sharon’s wishes, cremation will follow. The family has suggested memorials to Covenant Presbyterian Church, the Racine Theatre Guild or the Westosha Lakes Sweet Adelines Chorus.    

   The family would like to thank the Physicians and the staff at the Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Cancer Center as well as the staff of Wheaton Franciscan Hospice for the loving care and compassion they gave Sharon and her family.
