Sherman J. Washington

Jun 22, 1933 – Mar 27, 2010

Sherman J. Washington, 76, was born in Enterprise, Mississippi on June 22, 1933 the son of the late Elmer and Roberta (nee: Buckley) Washington. Sherman received Christ at an early age. He had been employed by Racine Die Casting until his retirement. He enjoyed cowboy movies, cars, and checkers. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kathy (nee: Hunter) Washington, of Ellisville, MS; stepchildren, Kenneth Blackmon Jr., of Oklahoma City, OK, Shanette and Rosetta Blackmon, both of Racine; 8 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Bunch and Kizzie Bester, both of Racine; sisters-in-law, Ora Lee Washington, of Laurel, MS, and Mary Evans, of Racine; special nieces, Mary Louise (Clinton) Bryant, and Ashley Carter, both of Racine; caregiver and family friend, Kathy (James) Coates; special friends, Ruth Nesby and Robert Bell, all of Racine . Other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, John, and David Washington, and George Williams, 1 sister, Ruth Townsend, brothers-in-law, Henry Bester and James Townsend, and nephew, Harvey Bester. His Homegoing Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, April 1st, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Willie Scott officiating. Visitation will be in funeral home on Thursday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery.
