Sister Alice Theresa May Lowry

May 10, 1916 – Jan 19, 2010

Racine – Sister Alice Theresa Lowry; SD, 93, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Tuesday, January 19, 2010. She was born on May 10, 1916, daughter of the late John and Lydia (nee: Sneeberger) Fazen. She was a lifelong resident of Racine. On May 15, 1939 she was united in holy matrimony to Paul W. Lowry in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1993. Alice’s spent her early career as a homemaker and architect. She also held various positions with JI Case Co. She was a great mom and devoted wife. Following their retirement, she and Paul purchased a tent camper, and enjoyed traveling and visiting relatives and friends. Alice’s lifelong relationship and devotion to Jesus directed her to become an Oblate of the Order of Julian of Norwich. She later took her religious vows as a non-sequestered nun with the Order of the Solitaries of DeKoven. Sr. Alice was a life long member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. She is survived her children, Karen Lowry of Racine, Joan (Quinten) Hammes of Racine, John (Pamela) Lowry of Nakoosa, Paul Lowry III of Racine, and Jane (Steve) Fogle of Racine; 12 grandchildren, Michael (Kellie) Ashton, Elizabeth (Peter) Hughes, Lee Ann (Steven) Stremke, Quinten (Renee) Hammes III, Kimberly Eisel, Suzanne (Eric) Zoromskis, John (Jennifer) Lowry, Alyssa Lowry, Michael Lowry, Steve (Rachel) Fogle, Jr., Jessica Fogle–Brazaski (Ray) Brazaski, and Stephanie (Jamison) Bell, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Lowry. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 23, 2010 in St. Mary’s Chapel in Taylor Hall, (Dekoven Center, 600 21st Street) with Fr. Travis DuPriest officiating. All are invited to visit in Taylor Hall after the service. In Lieu of flowers, Memorials to the DeKoven Center have been suggested.
