
PLEASANT PRAIRIE (Formerly of Racine) – Mr. Thomas E. Turek, 83, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 23, 2013.
He was born in Ashland, WI on October 21, 1929, the son of the late Jacob and TillieTurek. He served his country with The U.S. Army from 1947 – 1950. After the military he moved to Racine and married the former LaVerne Hoglund on November 10, 1951 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.
Mr. Turek worked for Rexnord (now Bosch) for over 43 years before retirement. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by those lives he touched.
In addition to his wife, Laverne, he is survived by his children, Barbara (Perry) Blaski of Pleasant Prairie, Wayne (Debra) Turek of Racine; his grandchildren, Daniel (Susan) Blaski of Greenfield, Karin (Sean) Dempsey of Pleasant Prairie, Nichole (Arnold) Bliesner and Timothy Turek both of Racine; his great grandchildren, Austin, Wyatt, Isabella, Logan, Brooke and Madison; his brother, Martin “Jake” Turek of Necedah, WI; his sisters-in-law, LaVerne Hoglund of Chatfield, MN and Meryl Turek of Sun Prairie, WI; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jayne; 9 brothers and sisters and a brother-in-law.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, April 26, 2013 for a visitation from 11-12pm. A service celebrating and remembering his life will follow at noon. His interment with military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
