
Racine- Thomas J. Robinson, Jr., 54, affectionately known as “Tommy” and “Tome”, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 17, 2010.
A lifetime resident, Thomas was born in Racine on December 26, 1955 to the late Thomas J. and Verneda J. (nee: Westmoreland) Robinson, Sr. He graduated from Washington Park High School in 1973.
On June 28, 1986, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Terri (nee: Kangas) Robinson. For the past 22 years, Tommy has been employed by Great Northern, Inc.
Among his interests, Tommy was an extreme sports fanatic – especially for the Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers; enjoyed all types of music – with his favorite band being “Tower of Power”; playing drums in local bands; studying the Bible; and attending all of his children’s events and activities. Tommy was an active football coach being a two-time R.Y.S. Super Bowl champion. Above all, Tommy was a true family man who loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family and extensive circle of friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 24 years, Terri of Racine; daughter, Chacon (nee: Carter) (Brett) Jefferson of Columbus, OH; sons, Tommy (Amanda) Robinson III of Kenosha and Isaiah Robinson of Racine; grandchildren, Mikal Robinson, Jazmyn “Lil Bit” Robinson and Jordan Andersen; sister, Anita Robinson; brother, Marcus (Linda) Robinson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Donald and Aileen Kangas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Tommy was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Robinson, Sr.; mother, Verneda Hausmann; step-father, Eugene Hausmann; sister, Leda Robinson; grandparents, Frances and Joseph Westmoreland, and Icy Wright; and by aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Pastor Jennifer Arnold officiating. Interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 11 am – 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Racine Hitters Baseball Academy have been suggested.
