Thomas Lester Brown

vet
Sep 11, 1936 – Dec 13, 2014

Mt. Pleasant – Thomas L. Brown, 78, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Saturday, December 13, 2014. He was born in Milwaukee on September 11, 1936, the son of the late Lester and Viola (nee: Romeis) Brown. Tom graduated from Waukesha High School in 1953. He then served with pride in the US Air Force from 1958 to 1962. On October 1, 1960 in Tucson, Arizona he was married to the love of his life, Mary Ann Novak.

Tom began his career at the Milwaukee Journal in the stereotyping department, and ultimately retired as a supervisor in the paper and ink department in 2000. He was an exemplary family man who along with his wife, sacrificed his own needs to provide a proper home and education for his children. The love for his family extended beyond his children, as his siblings and their children were also much loved. Tom  enjoyed reading; studying history, and was a real Civil War buff; and loved going to County Stadium to watch the Milwaukee Braves.

He is survived by children, Terri (Robert) Maynard of Racine, and Timothy (Jacqui) Brown of Cedarburg; 3 dear grandchildren, Reese Maynard, Sydney, and Zachary Brown. Tom is further survived by his brothers and sister, Richard (LaVonne) Brown of Wauwatosa, Todd (Marsha) Brown of Waukesha, and Bonnie (Edward) Winkler of York, Pennsylvania; sister-in-law, Ramona Novak of Weatcliffe, Colorado; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded by his wife, MaryAnn; his brother, Robert (Jean) Brown; his nephew, David Brown; and brother-in-law, Frank Novak.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014 with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. Visitation in the church will be from 9:30a.m. – 10:45 a.m. Contributions to the All Saints Cancer Center in Tom’s memory have been suggested.

Heartfelt thanks and appreciation is extended to Dr. Ryan Engel and staff; Dr. Joel Niebhur, Alicia and all the staff All Saints ICU; and the paramedics from South Shore Fire Department.
