
Racine – Thomas Michael Lenz, 57, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, May 21, 2013.
Tom was born in Racine on January 23, 1956 to Dr. Donald and Audrey (nee: Svoboda) Lenz. A 1974 graduate of St. Catherine's High School, he went on to attend both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Parkside earning a double major in Chemistry and Mathematics where Tom earned the Analytic Chemistry Student of the Year award.
During his career he was employed as a chemist at SC Johnson, was an orthodontic lab technician at Professional Positioners and Lenz Orthodontics. A published author, he also wrote and performed his own computer program for Cephalometric Radiograph Analysis for Dr. Mark D. Lenz. As a teenager Tom attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was selected for the Badger State Boys State golf team. Golf was his passion, he also had an extensive collection of books in his library, enjoyed and excelled at gardening and landscaping, weight lifting and was a true fan to the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. Above all Tom cherished his time spent with the entire family.
Surviving are his mother, Audrey Lenz; brother, Dr. Mark Lenz (Therese); sisters, Amy (Bill) Roszkowski and Julie Richter; adored nieces and nephews, Dr. Kristin, Joseph and Michael Lenz; Lauren and Abbey Roszkowski; Katherine, Jane and Ollie Richter; aunt, Marina Svoboda; other dear relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
Tom was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Donald Lenz; brother-in-law, Dr. Mike Richter; and uncles, Wayne Svoboda, Robert Lenz and Wayne Lenz.
A private Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, May 24, 2013 at St. Edward Catholic Church. Interment followed in West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please send memorials of Tom to St. Catherine's High School or St. Edwards's Parish.
