Tom "Chopper" Nielsen

Aug 23, 1952 – May 22, 2010

– Tom “Chopper” Nielsen, 57, passed away unexpectedly, in Milwaukee on Thursday, May 20, 2010. He was born at the Great Lakes Naval Base on August 23, 1952 the son of the late Jack L. and Phyllis M. (nee: Feest) Nielsen. On January 5, 1974, in St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, he was united in marriage to the former Deborah A. Daams. Tom had been employed by Pent Air-Water for over 25 years. Tom was an avid sports fan. He followed the New York Jets, the Atlanta Braves, and the Florida Gators. His greatest enjoyment was being with family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving are his wife, Deb; their children, T.J. (Tina) Nielsen, of Racine, Leah (Steven) Neu, of Delevan, and Troy Nielsen, of Waupaca; grandson J.T. Nielsen; sister and brothers, Barb (Rick) Bouchard, Don (Cindy) Nielsen, and Jack (Chris) Nielsen, all of Racine. He is further survived by his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and many friends. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Jeffery M. Thielen officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery Hwy 32. In lieu of flowers an educational fund will be established in the name of his grandson, J.T. Nielsen.
