Victor H. Mycon

vet
Mar 8, 1951 – May 17, 2014

Racine – Victor Hennry Mycon, age 63, passed away at his home on Saturday evening, May 17, 2014 surrounded with the love of his family – following a heroic battle with squamous cell carcinoma.

Victor was born in Racine on March 8, 1951 to the late Andrew & Vivian (nee: Foss) Mycon. After attending Washington Park High School, he faithfully served our Country with the United States Navy in the Vietnam War. On December 2, 1972 in Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, Victor was united in marriage with the love of his life, Cheryl Rae (nee: Norby). Prior to Vic’s health becoming compromised, he was employed by the JI Case Company and ACME Die Cast.

Proud of service to our nation, Victor was a longtime member of the VFW Post 1391. Among his interests, he enjoyed repairing automobile, lawn mowers and snow blowers.  Above all, Vic loved being together in the surroundings of his entire family.

Surviving are his devoted wife of 41 years, Cheryl; their children, Lynette (Dan) Arndt and David Mycon; grandchildren, Jordan Woiteshek; Xavier, Xandria, Xaidan and Xariyana Arndt; brother, Bill (Margaret) Mycon; sisters, Carol Maddix and Marcia (Richard) Matavka; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arley (Joan) Norby, Linda Norby, Craig Norby, Pamela (Crystal) Norby, Todd Norby, Mark Norby, D.J. (Delie) Conners and Brian (Denise) Norby; many special nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends – too numerous to mention by name.

In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Carolyn) Mycon; brother-in-law, Gary Maddix; Cheryl’s parents, David and Gloria (nee: Svendsen) Norby; and sister-in-law, Mary Norby.

Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, May 23, 2014 at 7:00 pm. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. In honor of Vic’s appreciation for the color purple, everyone is encouraged to wear purple to his funeral. Private interment will take place in Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Mycon Family would be appreciated.

A special note of thanks to the wonderful team at Froedtert Hospital; Dr. Stuart Wong; Heartland Hospice – especially nurse Amber; and to all of our family & friends who stood by our side during this difficult time. May God bless all of you!

Mike Langendorf, my parents told me of your kindness, generosity, and servitude when we lost my brother. They needed that strength and your light came through. Thank you! Anne T.
