Vince "Tit" Bernard Hattix, Sr.

Dec 29, 1957 – Oct 17, 2010

Racine- Vince Bernard Hattix Sr., 52, affectionately known by those who loved him as “Tit”, passed away unexpectedly at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee on Sunday, October 17, 2010.

A lifetime resident, Vince was born in Racine on December 29, 1957 to Charles H. and Annette (nee: Martin) Hattix. He went on to graduate from Washington Park High School in 1976. Tit enjoyed being employed as a maintenance mechanic at Imperial Laundry.

Receiving Christ at an early age, Vince grew up in the congregations of Greater Mt. Eagle and Wayman AME. Through the years, he continued to worship with various local church families in Racine. Among his interests, Tit enjoyed music and working on cars. As an accomplished handyman who could fix anything, he loved helping out others with projects. Even in death, Tit is helping enhance the lives of nearly 70 people through his gift of organ and tissue donation. He will be truly missed by his loving family and extensive circle of friends.

Surviving are his children, Candy Hattix, Vince Hattix Jr., Kindra Wray, Willie Hattix and Bernice Hattix; grandchildren, Cyajha Tye, Breajha Tye, Kelly Mae Hattix, Darvion Hattix, Dylon Hattix and Aniyah West; father, Charles Hattix; grandmother, Hattie Elizabeth Sanders; brothers and sisters, Charles (Geraldine) Hattix Jr., Hugh (JoAnn) Hattix, Sharon (Joe) Wright, Kenneth (Laura) Hattix, Debra Hattix, Tammie (Matthew) Covington and Larry (Stephanie) Hattix; special nephew of whom Vince spent a lot of time with, JaVontae Garcia; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends, including the staff of doctors and nurses of the NCIU at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee, too numerous to mention all by name.

Vince was preceded in death by his mother, Annette; wife, Ruthie Mae (nee: Carter) Hattix; daughter, LaKeisha Hattix; sister, Elizabeth Hattix; and brother, Derek Hattix.

A Homegoing Service will be celebrated on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 11 am in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home with Pastor Ralph Williams officiating. Please join the family for a fellowship at 1:00 pm at the DeKoven Foundation, 600 21st Street (Assembly Room) on Saturday. Private interment will take place in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm and Saturday from 10-11 am. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in the name of Vince Hattix Sr. at any Educator’s Credit Union location.

Vince will truly be missed. It’s rare to find someone with a kind and giving heart as Vince. He was a great friend and co-worker.

To the Hattix family, it has been a long time since I’ve seen you but you have been on my mind often lately. You are really in my prayers, Vince and I go way back, and as we grow up and move away we don’t see our old friends often but we remember those that stood out in our lives. Vince was one of them. God Bless you all. La Rita Winston
