Wayne Bernard Schuebel

Jan 3, 1968 – Apr 29, 2013

Racine- Wayne Bernard Schuebel, age 45, passed away at Carey Manor in Pleasant Prairie on Monday morning, April 29, 2013 following an especially long and hard fought battle with Huntington’s Disease.

Wayne was born in Racine on January 3, 1968 to Clarence and Julianne (nee: Janot) Schuebel. Wayne attended Park High School and went on to become a skilled and talented carpenter.

Among his interests, Wayne enjoyed hunting and fishing while also being extremely talented at constructing, remodelling and building with his hands. With all the challenges he faced while suffering from Huntington’s, he remained determined to live life as independently as possible.

Surviving are his mother, Julianne Schuebel; brother, Rick (Melissa Sadlon) Schuebel; aunts, uncles, cousins; and very devoted friends, Sam, Anne, and Sally Clausen. Sadly, Huntington’s Disease also claimed the life of Wayne’s father, Clarence Schuebel at the age of 49. He was further preceded in death by his beloved grandparents, Bernard and Evelyn Janot.

A service of remembrance will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 12-1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family or to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America have been suggested.

A heartfelt note of thanks to those who helped Wayne in his journey – especially Brenda Carey of Carey Manor and her very supportive staff (for providing a warm and loving home) as well as to Hospice Alliance for their compassionate care and support.

Testimonials

Our Memorial to “Mom”

Our family wants to thank Mike and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf for their compassion and caring in the death of our mother. They attended to every detail with such professionalism and made this difficult time so much easier by unburdening us of all that needs to be done with the arrangements. We all felt that there was nothing more they could have been done. It was perfect. We can now go forward with the memories that we hold in our hearts of mom and know that we provided the best possible service by choosing Draeger-Langendorf.
