RACINE – William D. Ager, 60, passed away at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove on January 23, 2015.

He was born in Racine on January 16, 1955, the son of Kenneth and IvaDell (nee: LaRose) Ager.  Bill served his nation with the U.S. Navy.

Bill always had a zest for life and adventure.  Following a sky diving accident, he customized his motorcycle to accommodate his wheelchair so he could travel around the country.  Bill also was an accomplished writer; writing short stories and articles for magazines and blogs.  In 2004, Bill graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a BS in Professional and Technical Communication.

He is survived by his mother, IvaDell Ager of Sturtevant; his sisters, Marlene (Jess) Holbrook; Mardell (Rob) Fisher; brother-in-law, Chuck Wahl; and his nephew and niece, Nicholas and Samantha Fisher all of Racine.  Bill was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth and his sister, Melonie Wahl.

A memorial will take place at a later date.  Memorials in Bill’s name can be directed to The Wisconsin Veterans Home Deli (21425 E. Spring Street Union Grove, WI 53182) or to the Veterans Administration Fisher House Wisconsin (5000 W. National Ave Milwaukee, WI 53295).

Bill’s family would like to thank the entire staff at the Union Grove Wisconsin Veterans Home; John Stack for his steadfast help and friendship throughout the years; as well many dear family and friends for their assistance during his health issues.

Testimonials

May 11, 2021

Gary is a warm, kind, loving, human being. He seems to have passed that quality onto the rest of his family. I have deep respect for him and his family. I have been able to say goodbye to several of my friends in this beautiful facility. God Bless.

Brian Friss
