Aug 30, 1967 – Oct 11, 2011

Racine- Willie E. McMullin Jr., 44, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center on Tuesday, October 11, 2011.

Beloved son of Emma (nee: Nunn) Lassiter and Willie Clarence McMullin Sr., he was born in Racine on August 30, 1967. A 1988 graduate of Washington Park High School, Willie went on to be employed by Careers Industries (of whom he considered his second family) for many years. Accepting Jesus as his Savior at age 5, Willie was a proud member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Born with profound Cerebral Palsy, Willie bravely battled through 49 surgical procedures in his lifetime. He will be remembered for his infectious smile and extreme positive attitude. Willie was a true inspiration to everyone he met…..to know him was to love him. Some of his interests included painting, planting flowers, house chores, watching sports – especially Green Bay Packers, singing / listening to Gospel music and spreading the goods news of Jesus.

Surviving are his loving mother (of whom Willie called “Super Mama”), Emma Lassiter; three devoted sisters, Jadaici Jahzhara Rashinda-Ahmad ( Kevin Dennis ), Mertarsha (Willie) Fondren and Denise Mack; step-brothers, Dwayne and Dwight; special brother whom he loved dearly, Joseph Lassiter; close friend, Deacon Donald Young, Rev. Alfred Scaife and family, Rev. Buddy (Dorothy) Vinson; special aunts and uncles residing in Tenn., Irene Barker, Shirley ( Melvin ) Johnson, Martha ( Vernard ) Perry, Betty Avery, Bobby Avery, J.B. Avery Jr., Riley Nunn, Dean and Albert Johnson; second mother, Laura Spaulding; case manager of whom loved Willie like a son, Elsa Groe; God-Parents, Rev. Willie and Alice Riley; Bishop Lawrence (Dr. Renee) Kirby; Bishop Charles Thornhill; and Virginia Poole; guardian angels, Virginia Poole, Nannie Moore, Faye Shaw; cousin, Shirley Nunn, Jewel Nunn, Marilyn (Wydell), Wyvonia (Welton) Mcdougal, Louise Majors; special cousin, Zodie (Robert) Brown; and a host of other  nieces, nephews, cousins Conley family, Hayes family, Mayfeild family, Hicks family, relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.

Willie was preceded in death by his father, Willie McMullin, Sr.; and step-fathers, James Russell Baker and Rev. James Lassiter; aunt, Lucille Anderson; and God-Parents, Rev. Otis Moore, Rev. W.G. Lyon, Deacon Willie Hamilton and Rev. Mack C. Davis.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11 am in St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1123 Center Street, with Bishop Lawrence L. Kirby officiating. Visitation will be in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am.

Special thanks to Nina Lassiter, for your compassion and love that you showed us throughout our childhood. God bless you. We love you dearly.
