Cleaster Motton

Nov 17, 1930 – Jan 5, 2008

– Cleaster (nee: Mayfield), 77, passed away peacefully at Woodstock Health Care Center on Saturday, January 5, 2008. She was born in Alamo, TN on November 17, 1930, the oldest child of Floyd and Jennie Mayfield. Cleaster came to Racine as a young girl and graduated from Washington Park High School. She retired from St. Mary’s/Wheaton Franciscan All Saints after 39 + years of employment. “Cle,” as she was fondly called, was a devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church and served on various committees, including the kitchen committee and Women’s Fellowship. She helped coordinate meals for seniors at Memorial Hall and at the Lincoln Schoolhouse apartments where she was a friend to everyone and enjoyed helping out with various group activities. Left to mourn her passing are sisters Floydie M. (Robert Stewart), Barbara Mayfield (Bill Whitnall) of Racine, brother Floyd Mayfield (Opal) of Dallas, TX; uncle, John Mayfield of Racine and aunt, Mittie Mayfield of Racine; as well as numerous nieces, nephews cousins and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Motton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2008, 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 1120 Center Street, with Bishop L. L. Kirby officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet at the church on Thursday, January 10 from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. The family wishes to thank all of the staff and nurses at Woodstock, doctors and nurses who worked with Cle and those who treated her at Wheaton Franciscan/All Saints; and St. Paul Baptist church members and friends who visited with her during her time of illness.
