Wesley William Swamer

Apr 20, 1923 – Jan 25, 2016

Mount Pleasant – Our Heavenly Father welcomed Wesley Swamer, 92, into his Kingdom on January 25, 2016.  He passed on peacefully at home, where he wanted to be, surrounded by the love of his family.  He was born in Columbus, WI, on April 20, 1923, son of the late George and Edyth Swamer.

Wes married the former, Doris Catherine Lee, on August 3, 1946, in Madison, where Wes spent most of his early years.

Wes joined Red Dot Foods (now Frito-Lay) in 1949 and retired in 1985.  He was a long time member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where he was very active on the parish council, finance committee, and was a trustee for years.  Wes was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a past member of the Jaycees, and a member of the “Old Timers” group.  He enjoyed playing golf and attending other sporting events, especially Packer games with his family.  Wes was a man that made many friends in his lifetime and will be dearly missed.

Wes leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Doris Swamer; children, Jaclyn (Donald)Grabher of Waukesha, Jerry Swamer of North Wales, PA, Carolyn “Kitty” (David) Charo of Racine; seven grandchildren, Cory (Lori) Grabher, Mandy (Brett) Kandolf, Jarod Charo, Brandon Charo, Genevieve Swamer, Kristen Swamer, Michael Swamer; and seven nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, 8 in-laws (and spouses), Wes is preceded in death by his son Douglas in 2003.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 29, 2016, 5:30pm, at Saint Edward Catholic Church, 1401 Grove Avenue.  Visitation will be from 3:00pm until the time of the Mass.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been directed to the family for a memorial to be established at a later date.

Hey Wes, sorry to see you go. I know you can't read this, especially without your glasses, but maybe this will help those that knew you well to reminisce of all the happier moments you gave us during your time with us. I already know that you’ll be missed this summer at the Music on the Monument we so often shared. I know I no longer have to save you a chair downtown, but I’ll be damned I know that I won’t be thinking of you, and you’ll always have a place saved in my heart. Shit, you’re making me cry. At least now you won’t have to put up with me dragging you fish frys that didn’t turn out tasty. I’ll try to remember how well you kept rhythm when we listened to music (I could use the laughter). Keep on clapping to the music in your head, and may your hair stay in place. Thanks for being a part in my life. You are beloved.

    ‘Call me Grandpa’ you said..
from the very first time I got to meet you, nine short years ago, you showed me the joyous love for your sweet family you and Grandma built. I will never forget your kindness, positivity and pure love for your family and friends. Love you so much always, Grandpa.

I’m really sorry your last days were so difficult. We never wanted for you. Your now resting peacefully. I’m thankful for that. Miss you very much but looking forward to the resurrection when we’ll all be together again. Love you much.

To grandpa..the greatest and strongest man I ever knew. I’m not sure if you knew how much I looked up to you. You were my mentor, my father, and my best friend. Words can not tell how much you will be missed. Fly grandpa! Fly like an eagle! I will love you forever

Testimonials

February 20, 2019

Mike and his team did a fabulous job with the memorial service for our Mom. It was perfect and he made the process easy for me to go through during such a difficult time. She had chosen theĀ funeral homeĀ before hand, and she made the right choice. The service was beautiful, simple, and sweet. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
