Bruce William Funk

Jan 7, 1957 – Mar 18, 2016

UNION GROVE – Mr. Bruce W. Funk, 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 18, 2016.

He was born in Racine on January 7, 1957 to the late Robert E. and Joanne C. (nee: Simonsen) Funk.  He graduated from Union Grove High School.   On January 15, 1983 he married Vicki Majerko at St. John Nepomuk Church in Racine.

Bruce was a passionate farmer and especially proud of his pumpkin patch and stand. When he was not farming, he enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors, hunting and Sunday Funday with his family. He was a caring and loyal husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Bruce attended St. Sebastian Catholic Church.

In addition to his loving wife, Vicki, Bruce is survived by his children, Robert Funk, Clinton (Amanda) Funk all of Union Grove, Katherine Funk of Chicago, Elaine (fiancé, Justin Born) Funk of Union Grove; his grandchildren, Bruce and Raymond Funk; his sisters and brothers, Nancy (Robert) Duthie, Carol Funk, Ronald (Denise) Funk all of Union Grove, Doug (Donna) Funk of Sturtevant; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Connie Majerko of Racine; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Carole (John) Nickelson of Eagan, MN, Denise (Patrick) Albregts of AZ, Alan (Natalie) Majerko of Minnetonka, MN, Lisa (Thomas) Ferguson of Racine; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Sebastian Catholic Church (3126 95th St, Sturtevant) on Wednesday evening from 4-7 p.m. for a visitation and time to meet with his family.  A private service for the family will take place on Thursday. He will be interred at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia.

Because of Bruce’s very generous spirit of giving, the family has requested that in lieu of flowers please pay it forward and do something kind for another person.  If you wish to make a contribution, please direct it to a charity of your choice.

    Vicki and family,
Bruce was an amazing friend. We were honored to have known him. He was one of the most helpful people we have ever known. If you ever needed anything you knew you could call Bruce…and we did! He never let us down. He was a true testament of a good neighbor. He just didn’t say it, he lived it. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We are here for you.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for all the kindness and sincere expressions of sympathy that you extended to us during the loss of my son, Todd Swanson. We appreciate all the extra special things you did to help us through this very difficult time. We didn’t have to think ahead, we just had to be there while every little detail was taken care of by you and your staff. This made an impression on everyone that came, and I will never forget it. Thank you from all of us.
