James M. Hedges, 78, passed away at Aurora Hospital in Kenosha on March 7, 2022. He was born in Pell City, Alabama, on May 7, 1943, son of the late James F. and Flora (Née: Wilks) Hedges.

James was united in marriage to the love of his life, the former Ellen Barbara Musiel, on October 2, 1965, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Racine.

James and Ellen have owned Surfside Bowl for many years.  James enjoyed golf, bowling, and race cars.  He loved racing cars at Wilmot Speedway.  James also liked to try his luck at the local casinos playing slots and Keno.

James leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 56 years, Ellen Hedges; sons, Brian (Debbie) Hedges, A.J. (Kris) Hedges; grandchildren, Kevin (Stephanie) Hedges, Courtney (Jeremy) Hedges, Tori (Brandon) Merles, Allie Hedges, Lea Hedges, Kennedy Hedges; great-grandchildren, Olivia Hedges, Liam Hedges; siblings, Wayne (Judy) Hedges, Shirley (John) Calvery, Brenda (Dale) Nelson, Linda (Kraut) Miletic, Joyce (Rick) Ade; brothers-in-law, Jim (Joan) Musiel, Bob (Marie) Musiel; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.

James is preceded in death by his parents, James F. and Flora Hedges.

A memorial celebration of James’s life will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, 11:00am, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, Mount Pleasant.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the memorial service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to the family for a youth bowling scholarship to be setup in James’s name.
