Racine – Catherine (nee: Puryear) Ingram, age 88, passed away peacefully at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Sunday, July 3, 2022.

Minister Ingram was born in Somerville, TN on October 23, 1933 to the late Jesse Howard Puryear and Lula Mae (nee: Hester) Puryear. She received her adult diploma from JI Case High School and went on to graduate from Dominican College in 1972. With her love of children, Catherine served our community as an elementary school teacher for Racine Unified School District for over 30 years. She was a lifetime member of the Wisconsin Retired Educators Association.

Minister Ingram dedicated her life to serving and worshiping God while ministering to others whenever the opportunity presented itself. Minister Ingram was a proud member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a missionary, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader, and prayer warrior. She regularly visited the sick-and-shut-in and local nursing homes to pray for and spread the gospel of Christ. Among her interests, she was an avid studier of The Word and enjoyed watching Christian programming. Some of her favorite pastimes include baking, growing greens & tomatoes, nurturing household plants and tending to her yard. She was often known for having the best lawn on the block.

Surviving are her daughters, Doris Jones, Greta Ingram, and Candace (Eric) Tate; grandchildren, Malcolm (Rosa) Griffin, Tracey Griffin, Andre Jones, Johnny (Keshia) Williams IV, Contessa Ellis, Jerrad Williams, Denzel Tate, Brya Ingram, Taylor Ingram and Christian Tate; great-grandchildren, Alaa & Omar Bahour; Tevin & Kaydence Jones; Mikayla Griffin; Za’Kiya, Za’Kerya, Za’Mariyon, Za’Jariyon & Jaemar Williams; Avery Santiago and Mya Tate; brother, Bro. Howard (Lucy) Puryear; sister, Cora (John) Rayford; sisters-in-law, Mary Puryear and Desarae Puryear; nieces, nephews, cousins, church family & friends.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

After the passing of our loved one, the time came to make the arrangements for his funeral and we couldn’t have asked for anyone more kind and caring as Mark was. He picked up on all the little details and things we held close to our hearts and made the celebration of this wonderful man’s life very special. Even playing taps along with the honor guard, Mark we can’t thank you enough…our heartfelt thanks go out to you and the staff.
Sincerely, THE GENE GRABHER FAMILY

Linda
