Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances to St. Sebastian Catholic Church would be appreciated by the Lange family.

Donald Jerome Lange, age 93, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 16, 2024.

Don was born in Milwaukee on September 10, 1931, a son of the late Robert E. and Esther (nee: Loppnow) Lange.

Don grew up in the Milwaukee area, graduating from St Francis Minor Seminary High School in 1950. He joined the Army in 1953, served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged in 1961.

On February 7, 1959, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kansasville, he was united in marriage to Virginia “Jonesy” May Jones.

Don was a dedicated employee with AMC/Chrysler, Kenosha, for over 31 years. His last position was Supervisor in the “Cranks and Shaft” department, retiring in 1990.

As a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Sturtevant, Don was a staunch supporter of the church, participating in festivals and helping with building maintenance. He also had over 50 years of continuous membership with the American Legion Post #494. Don enjoyed many hobbies, including playing Sheepshead at St Lucy Church and Cribbage with his grand daughters and friends. He was an avid vegetable gardener and woodworker. He spent many summers building and selling wishing wells.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Christopher Allen Lange, Mary Therese (Frank) Zenner, Michael Jerome Lange, and Lawrence Scott (Barbara) Lange; his grandchildren, Erin Knueppel, Joshua Lange, Brianna (Kenny) Schumacher, Bridgette (Dalton) Hardy, Deanna (Aaron) Andritsch, Ashley (Zachary) Zimmermann, Jessica (Jake) Johnson and Natalie (Garret) Campbell; his great grandchildren, Aubrianna, Elise, Maisyn, Quinn, Wesley, Cohen, Calla, and Ezra; many cherished nieces and nephews; his siblings, Anita (Jerry) Vaculik, Diane (the late James) Hagemann, and Annette (the late John) Kempken, and his sisters-in-law, Joice and Judy Lange.

Along with his parents and wife, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert (the late Angie) Lange Jr, Dennis Lange, and Hillary Lange, and his sisters, Charlene Secrist and Rita (the late Alex) Modesti.

We were longtime neighbors of Don and Virginia, they both will always be remembered fondly. If we needed help, as they said, “We are only a door away.” Don was a fantastic individual, religious, a craftsman, as many of his homemade wishing wells and other projects depicted. There was one “project” though that was somewhat upsetting, when we played Sheepshead. He would pick with the 7, 8, 9 and 10 of diamonds. In the blind he would find two black queens. He then would play alone, take every trick, and look at four frowns upon the other players. Don will be missed. May Gos bless his soul.

Our sincere sympathy to the family. I remember Don and Virginia coming up to the farm when uncle Grover and aunt Elsie were still alive.
Jerry and I stayed at their house one night I thought it was such a beautiful home.
Don will be missed by all with his beautiful dimples.

You have our deepest sympathy and God bless

My deepest condolences to the Lange family. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Don was quite the character, but a great man.
