Ivory Lee Echoles departed this world on October 30, 2025, to be with her Lord and Savior.

Born on June 1, 1936, in Humboldt, TN, Ivory Lee was the last child and only daughter of John Henry and Ivory Mae (Smith) Moten. Named after her mother, Ivory Lee was always referred to by her whole name. Being the only girl with two older brothers, they were always overprotective of her, but Ivory Lee was strong-willed, and once she had her mind set on achieving a goal, she couldn’t be stopped.

She was educated in the Jackson, TN school system, where she earned her high school diploma in 1954. In 1955, she and Artis Echoles were united in marriage, and into this union, five children were born. In the early 1960’s, their family decided to relocate to Racine, WI, and Racine became their new home. Ivory was a homemaker and loved being with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, bingo, playing cards, and listening to music. Two of her favorite songs were “The Thrill Is Gone” and “Tennessee Whiskey”. Ivory was an avid Green Bay Packers fan who loved wearing her green and gold and cheering on her team. Above all else, Ivory was a God-fearing woman who knew that every day was a blessing. She was a member of Searching Together Missionary Baptist Church, where she attended up until her health failed.

Ivory leaves to cherish her memory, her children Artis (Michelle), Sandra (Albert), Cynthia, Daniel (Angela), and DeLon; her stepchildren Elizabeth, MyKesha, Artisa, Tralon, Dontae, LeKeena, and Jaquay. Best friends Ola Mae Anderson, Vorice Price; favorite cousins, Annie Lizzie and Helen; and her favorite niece, Arlene.  She is further survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention by name.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John Henry Jr., Charles Moten, stepson Thomas Ivy, and grandsons Artis Echoles the 3rd and Larry Echoles-Robbins.

Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, November 14, 2025, for a visitation from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.  A service celebrating her life and Homegoing will take place at 11:00 am with her son, Pastor Daniel Echoles, officiating.  Her interment will follow in Graceland Cemetery.

Testimonials

Don Fresen

Many thanks to Bob and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf. This has been the hardest of times in my families lives and you were very attentive and helpful with all that needed to be done. The tribute that you created for my mother was beautiful and I shall not forget it. God bless all of you.
