Barbara Jo Jerry

Mar 16, 1945 – Mar 11, 2025

Service Details

Per the wishes of Barb and her family, a Celebration of Life will be held in the future.

Barbara Jerry (nee: Schmidt), age 79, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.

Barb was born in Muskegon, MI on March 16, 1945 to William and Lettie (nee: Wortelboer) Schmidt. Bobbie Jo became a resident of Racine at the age of nine months and spent the rest of her life in this city on the shore of beautiful Lake Michigan, which she loved. While attending UW-Milwaukee, Barb met Christopher Jerry, and on September 11, 1965, they were united in marriage. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Christopher Jon (Christine), Benjamin Scott (Justine), and Sara Catherine; six adored grandchildren, Rebecca Rose, Rhiannah Danielle, Madeline Claire, Lillian Grace, Adelaide Maryrose and Alexander Christopher; one great grandchild. Barbara’s favorite working years were spent in the library of Washington Park High Scholl. She worked as a floral and merchandising designer and enjoyed trying different art mediums. She retired as a secretary at Prudential Heritage Reality-West in 1995.

Barb was happiest when surrounded by her husband and children, especially as they were outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature (lakes, mountains, woods, sunrises, sunsets, moon-lit skies).

BJ would want to be remembered as one who tried to perpetuate idealism and beauty in everyday life, as a perpetual student and traveler, and tried to make her corner of the earth a little greener place in which to nurture happy productive lives.
