Bruce Robert Schatzman Sr, 77, of Racine, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025.
Bruce was born June 17, 1948, in Racine, Wisconsin, the son of Delbert and Thelma (Gilbertson) Schatzman. He graduated from Park High School in 1966 and was a long time employee of Racine Hydraulics. Bruce married Trudy (Burdick) on June 28, 1969, at St. Edwards Catholic Church.
After a change in employment at age 54, Bruce decided to go back to school. He attended Lakeshore Technical College, working hard enough to achieve a spot on the honor roll and earning his Associates Degree in 2004. He was proud of this accomplishment and continued as a life-long learner and avid reader.
Throughout his life, Bruce was a sports fan. He rarely missed a Brewers or Packers game, enjoying both in person or from his favorite spot in his living room. He was also an avid golfer and bowler, participating in leagues as recently as June of this year.
Bruce was a lover of music, listening to his nearly 800 albums on his record player in the basement, surrounded by his favorite things (as an avid “collector” he never met a bobble head or bottle he couldn’t find a spot for). He was the best at tinkering, methodically restoring a ‘57 Ford truck.
Bruce was a wonderful conversationalist, making each person he spoke with feel as though they were the most important. He was generous with his compliments and was always willing to help a friend in need.
More than anything, though, Bruce loved his family. His time spent with Trudy, attending outdoor musical events throughout Racine, camping, and taking walks through Sanders Park, were some of his favorite things to do. He always enjoyed hosting holidays and other get-togethers for their large family, but it was often the smallest moments, one on one with his wife, children and grandchildren that he cherished the most.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Trudy; his sons, Bruce Jr (Kathy), and Brock (Shannon), his grandchildren Lee, Grayce, Abby, Carter, and Coen; his siblings Jim (Carolyn), Lois (Jerry Herman), Gene, John, and Roger (Jeanette) and Nancy Schatzman; Trudy’s family Jim (Barbara), Pat (Wendy), Nancy (Bob Drew), Maryjane (Larry Melcher), Peggy (Steve McMichael), Bob (Dana), Aunt Mary Ellen Zickus, many nieces, nephews, and good friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Don and Del (Kitty), and in-laws Lee and Maggie Burdick.
