Carol received her Bachelors of Arts Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, and her Master’s Degree from  the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. She had been employed by the State of Wisconsin as a DVR Counselor. This was only one of the many titles she had during her career. Carol was a prominent crochet artist. She enjoyed singing, cooking delicious meals for large crowds, including family and friends. Carol was known as an educator and mentor to many throughout the Racine Area.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Michael Mitchell Jr. and Darlene (Marshon Bogan) Chattman, and daughter-in-law, April Varner Chattman; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren (with another one to arrive shortly); six siblings, Kathy Herron, William (Maryann) Herron, Yvonne  Herron, all of Birmingham, Alabama, A.B. Herron, and Sheila Herron, both of Racine, and Laverne Herron, of South Milwaukee; her best friend, for over fifty years,  known to the family as, “Aunt” Bernice Adams, of Racine. Her very special nieces, nephews, including Kym Bellas, brother-in-law, George Taylor, other relatives and friends, also survive her. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Miks; son, Vaughan A. Chattman; sisters, Beverly Ann (Clayton) Bogan, Elizabeth Smith, Jackie (Joe) Knuckles, and Debra Taylor; nieces, Ramona Herron and Jena Bodden.

You can shed tears that she is gone
Or you can smile because she has lived
You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back
Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left
Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her
Or you can be full of the love that you shared. (David Harkins).
Aunt Linda, we’re going to miss you so much!!! Micheal Jr, and Darlene.
    My deepest condolences. Love Elaine

My dear sister, Linda, was a wonderful person to be around. I will miss her laughter and her smiles. She was a very Beautiful and giving and gifted Lady. Peace from God to our family.

I am disappointed that I can not be there. I want to hug and hold all of the family at this time.

This is her sister, who loved her very much. May Jesus Father Keep Her In His Holy Arms. Amen

So very sad to hear of the passing of Carol. She was such a sweet person. To know Carol was to love her. She was the funniest person I have ever met. I use to say, “Carol you missed your calling. You should have been a comedian.” She could bring joy to you on your lowest day. May God comfort and keep you.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Bob,
I just wanted to thank you again for all your help and everything you did for my grandfather’s funeral. Looking back on it, I think Gramps would have been so proud of how everything turned out and it would not have been possible without your help. Your staff is amazing and has allowed us the grieve without worrying about the little details of everything that goes into making the arrangements and planning the services. You helped us honor one of the most amazing men in my life, and it meant so much to me personally and to my family. Thank you for everything.
Take care,
Jessie Tuttle
