Service Details

A Celebration of Life for Dawn will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00AM. Visitation will be held in the funeral home on Friday from 10:00AM until the time of celebration. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial gifts in Dawn’s name be made to Toys For Tots.

Dawn C. Hassel, nee Kerner, age 82, of Kenosha passed away in Sebring, FL on Wednesday August 21, 2025.

Dawn was born in Hannibal, MO, on August 24, 1942 to the late Charles and Jean Kerner. Her younger years were spent living in Racine. On July 2, 1966, Dawn married David P. Hassel in Racine. She worked at InSinkErator for 35 years, retiring in 1999 as a supervisor. Since retiring, Dawn and Dave loved to travel. She spent much of her time volunteering, sewing, reading, and doing crosswords.

Dawn is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Gregg (Mary) Hassell, Jason (Sarah) Hassel and daughter-in-law, Jody Andersen; grandchildren, Kali, David, Max, Chelsea, Danielle; and great-grandchild, Emma. Surviving as well is her sister, Elaine (John) Howell, and Kali’s mother, Sandra Mickelsen. Along with her parents, Dawn was preceded in death by her sons, Christopher Andersen and Troy Hassel.

    Dave and family, Suzann and I are so sorry for your loss of Dawn. Suzann has an eye treatment on Friday at the Eye Institute in Milwaukee and we will not be able to attend Dawn’s services. Dawn and her family are in our thoughts and prayers. RIP Dawn.
