Delmar W. Husman

Mar 12, 1918 – Sep 19, 2006

Delmar W. Husman Sr., 88, died in the Sunnyside Care Home, in Peoria, AZ, on Tuesday, September 19, 2006. He was born in Ohlman, IL, on March 12, 1918, the son of the late Henry F. and Mintie (nee: Sanders) Husman. Mr. Husman received his B.S. in Agriculture in 1940 and his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering in 1948, both from the University of Illinois. On Nov. 16, 1941, in Urbana, Il, he was united in marriage to the former Ruby T. Garst, who preceded him in death on Sept. 1, 1992. On Dec. 23, 1993, in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, he was united in marriage to the former Louise Barry Hittler. He lived in Champaign, Il from 1937-1949, Racine from 1949 until 1993 and finally Peoria, AZ from 1994 until the present. He had been employed by the J.I. Case Co. as Project Engineer for over 22 years, and then by Navistar International for 10 additional years. He retired in 1980. He was born and raised on a farm and his passion for farming remained first and foremost throughout his life. He was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, and the Elk’s Lodge #2259 B.P.O.E., Sun City, AZ. Surviving are his wife, Louise; his children, Donna (Warren) Nitz, Ronald Husman, all of Racine, Delmar (Patti) Husman Jr., of Franksville, Randy (Linda) Husman of Oshkosh; grandchildren, Brian (Virginia) Nitz, David (Cheryl) Nitz, Patti (Larry) Zamba, Susan (Brian) Stahl, Jeniffer (Tim) Gritzuk, Jonathan Husman, Suzanne, Jason , and Renee Husman; great-grandchildren, Alex, Andrea, Jeremy, Ciara, Arielle, Paris and Benjamin; his brother Dr. Burris Husman of Annapolis, MD, sister Ilene (Delbert) Jones of Albuquerque, NM. His nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends further survive him. In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by his sister Yola Burns. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, September 25th, at 10:30 a.m. in the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 2417 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Karen C. Kastler officiating. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and in the church on Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to the following : Elk’s Memorial National Foundation, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation of Southeastern Wisconsin, the American Cancer Society, or your favorite charity.
